Can Shower Water Filters Remove Viruses?

Is it possible viruses can be removed by shower water filters, it’s a valid question in this day and age.

Even though you may not want to believe it, there are all kinds of different unwelcome contaminants that reside in your shower water.

I’ve done the hardwork of checking out what’s relevant and thought, I’d share it. You can find anything from chlorine to viruses swimming within your glass and even shower.

Can Shower Water Filters Remove Viruses? Shower water filters specifically can not remove viruses. An ultraviolet purification system can, these UV systems can be installed with a whole house filtration system.

Unfortunately, shower water filters simply are not built for the type of filtration that can remove viruses, but fear not as there are plenty of other options out there that will easily filter viruses from your water.

Fortunately, you do not have to swim, shower, or drink virus-contaminated water in your home.

Let’s take a closer look at what UV purification systems can do and how they can remove the viruses you are after.

Can this remove viruses?

What is Ultraviolet Water Sterilization?

Ultraviolet water sterilization sounds advanced just in its name, and that is because it is!

Within your water, there can be all sorts of different contaminants, chemicals, and bacteria lurking around every sip, shower, and wash.

It’s gross and there is no need for any of these little boogers to be floating around in your water.

– water that is supposed to be good for you at that! Even more than these contaminants, harmful pathogens can be found in your home which can cause some nasty illnesses.

No one wants viruses in their water, we have enough to worry about in the day to day trying to keep ourselves and our families safe and sound.

Because of this, you do not want to have to think about whether or not your water is going to end up getting you sick.

Now, let me introduce to you ultraviolet water sterilization. As it turns out, viruses are really difficult to remove from water. They are microscopic and therefore are able to pass through with greater ease than some other contaminants.

So, what is ultraviolet water sterilization? Ultraviolet water sterilization uses ultraviolet rays in order to get into harmful pathogens and obliterate illness-causing microorganisms by attacking their DNA. Through this targeting, it makes it very difficult for those illness-causing microorganisms to reproduce.

Essentially, you get to keep that little virus family from expanding their family tree in your home’s water.

When it comes down to it, the only growth that should be happening is the addition of your own little munchkins – leave it to the humans, pathogens.

You may think that this process would take all kinds of equipment with lots of different moving parts, but actually, using ultraviolet light to disinfect your water is quite simple, incredibly effective, and safe for the environment as well.

These ultraviolet water sterilization systems are able to obliterate 99.99% of those harmful pathogens without adding anything extra to your water that may not be beneficial to you, to the taste of your water, and to its color and odor.

Advantages to Ultraviolet Purification

So, if you are looking at ways to remove viruses from your shower water, then you will likely have to look into a whole house purification system (here is one of my favorite systems around). Fortunately, these are incredibly worth the investment.

When you consider the amount of money you could save on bills and other mishaps that could be associated with virus-infected water, you are truly acting in a preventative manner, here, by choosing to seek out an ultraviolet purification system.

Ultraviolet purification is advanced in its nature and in the best way possible. There are so many different advantages that this system is able to offer that other filters simply cannot on their own.

Your shower filter needs a teammate in its efforts to stop viruses and some advantages of ultraviolet purification include:

  • No Added Chemicals
  • Environmentally- and User-Friendly
  • Taste- and Odor-Free
  • Incredibly Effective
  • Uses Very Little Energy

Let’s take a closer look.

No Added Chemicals

The point of filtering your water is to get rid of things that do not belong there. This means that no one wants a system that is going to only put in more chemicals to get rid of a virus within their water. In this case, you would simply be replacing one “bad” with another.

Ultraviolet purification does not use any chemicals to get those viruses out of there and will not leave any sort of by-product behind after it has gotten things done.

Environmentally- and User-Friendly

Some systems require you to store your own chemicals in order to treat your water. This system is totally independent though and there is no need for you to store any sort of harmful chemicals in your home in order to ensure that your water is healthy enough to drink.

These systems are also compact in their design and fit right into an existing whole house water filter without having to install a slew of different parts to get it working.

Taste- and Odor-Free

People worry about water purification systems changing the flavor of their water, but not in a positive way.

This system is like a ghost in your home that really likes to clean things up. Ok, no, it is not creepy like that, but it gets your water free of viruses without making any sort of impact that you can taste and smell.

You are able to use this system and have pure, healthy water without noticing any sort of negative change in your drinks, showers, or laundry.

Effective

Chlorine is often used to fight against viruses by basically burning them out, however, this system is not as effective.

Something more is needed in order to get rid of viruses and get rid of it at super-high rates. Ultraviolet purification systems are able to expel 99.99% of harmful pathogens and are able to keep them from getting overconfident and reproducing.

Uses Very Little Energy

What is so great about ultraviolet purification systems is that they use tiny amounts of energy to run. Hundreds of gallons of water can be treated for each little penny of operating cost.

This system uses about the same amount of energy that a 60 watt light bulb uses. At the end of the day, they are efficient, they are effective, and they use very little energy in order to get the job done.

Shower Water Filter Alternatives to Remove Viruses

Shower filters unfortunately do not come with ultraviolet purification systems and cannot be attached to them. This leaves you with one option, but is a practical and will get your whole house’s water virus-free – whole house systems with ultraviolet purification systems!

You need both of these products in order to filter your water most effectively, as UV purification systems only get rid of bacteria and viruses, not other contaminants like heavy metals and chlorine.
